Academy Awards producer Gil Cates told The Hollywood Reporter that Mary J. Blige and Toni Braxton will perform at the February 29 Oscar telecast. Blige will sing Sting’s “You Will Be My Ain True Love” from Cold Mountain and Braxton will sing Elvis Costello’s “Scarlet Tide,” also from the same film. Sting recommended both singers when Alison Krauss was unable to attend the ceremony due to a scheduling conflict. “Mary and Toni are terrific singers who can add a different interpretation to the songs,” Sting said. “Hopefully their appearance on the Oscars will garner more interest for the film and the soundtrack.” The ceremony will be telecast on ABC television. Mary J. Blige is currently enjoying success with her lastest single, "Not Today," while Toni Braxton is currently recording a new album to be released early summer.

-The lost tapes-

Selling more than 40 Million Units worldwide, Toni Braxton wasn't always a powerhouse. In the humble beginnings Braxton in her four sisters auditioned for Arista Records and was signed to a 12-inch deal.

Braxton and her sisters worked with Bill Pettaway and even included their father in the rap to one of their songs. The group only released two songs "The Good Life," and "Family." You can hear those tracks along with other bonus Toni Braxton tracks exclusively at Groovevolt.com.

Toni in Aïda as the main roll

In stead of Destiny's Child's Michelle Williams, is the main part of the Broadway version of Aïda for Toni Braxton.
The singer is standing from June, 30th on the stage of 4 months in the New York Palace Theatre. "I am very glad with the roll I get", Toni said. "For years I am a huge fan of the music of Elton John". Singing of the score, that he wrote together with Tim Rice, is in that way a
much bigger challenge for me. It's not the first time that she is playing the main part in a musical. her debut was in 1998 in Disney's "Beauty and the Beast".
